"Loop Dots and Needle Drops" is an experimental live performance using solely 2-Technic1200 Turntables, 1-Pioneer DJM-400 mixer, a stack of 7" records, and a bunch of colored sticker dots. It was performed live in one 60 minute continuous "DJ set". Finale strategically places the stickers on the grooves of records to create his own broken record-needle skipping loops. By blending and mixing both records at once, while simultaneously applying effects and playing the mixer like an instrument, entirely new music is created. Finale utilizes his abilities of DJing, Turnatablism, Producing, and Percussion, while applying music philosophies from Jazz, Musique Concrete, Hip Hop, Dub, Ambient, and Minimalism. 

Aside from the broken record sticker loops, Finale uses an old Hip Hop break-beat trick called "Needle Dropping" to manually loop the record. This is achieved by meticulously lifting the needle back by hand one groove, as the record rotates, creating a loop. This technic goes back to the Bronx 1970's and is regarded as one of the most difficult DJ maneuvers invented, and is a useful skill set that allows you to play the record like an instrument, as you drop the needle on different parts of the record. 

This music project aims to question the boundaries of what DJ'ing and Beat-Making truly are, and certainly fuses the two concepts. Finale uses improvisation within a frame work, and experiments with ideas in real time, and further develops these findings as the records continue to loop. The overall goal is to develop this musical approach beyond the novelty of process, and continue exploring the possibilities of recorded media re-purposing, sound collage, and turntablism.

Nihimá Nahasdzáán, Kino Benally’s first release under his own name, is seen as a fond departure from his earlier work as DJ Béeso, with a shift from the Electronic/Club music of his past releases, to Nihimá Nahasdzáán, which is an intricate and layered conceptual piece with soundscapes and many moments of reverence for traditional Diné Musical Structure and Practice. The album title, Nihimá Nahasdzáán which roughly translates to, “Our Mother, Mother Earth,” gives Kino the proper space to give tribute to Ké’ or kinship and the complete interconnectedness of everything. Kino builds a home with each song describing an object, concept, or place in his world all while featuring many longtime collaborators and colleagues along the way.

The super natural being and sound-reporter from the netherworld, White Squalor, returns again for the third straight year at sundown on Halloween. Offering reports and observations of the phenomena, madness, and horrific reality that is modern society.

The sonic investigative essay reads with an electro-exotica mysticism, tribal vibrations, and jazz infused rhetoric that bleeds optimism.

The work of White Squalor is ultimately to inspire positive change and peace upon this realm (dimension), that we inhabit.

This project is dedicated to those who have suffered to police brutality, systematic oppression and racism, hate, and from the Covid-19 pandemic. May 2021 usher in a paradigm shift of peace and love.

New single and multi media art work from Adam Michael Terry, “Fantasy Canyon Pt.1” is a mythological soundscape with a percussive foot-trail that guides you through synthesizer crevices, woodwind hoodoos and archaic bassline phrases. A pre-conceived multi media work, Fantasy Canyon was completed with medium format photography to picture score the music. The esoteric canyon is located in the middle of the remote desert and desolate oil fields of Vernal, Utah. Shapes of sounds and melodic phrases combo and complement each other, stringing together a syntax of fantasy and reality... synthetic and acoustic.

This single is from the soon-to-be-released “Lloyd Miller At the Ends of the World” album, a nine track world jazz journey.

From the liner notes:

We begin the migration from the Near - East to the influences of the Far - East with this song. “Bassmeant Blues at the Apocalypse” transitions these modes nicely as the [record’s] B side begins with a meditative introduction on flute then slowly develops into a swingy jazz tune. This was the earliest song we recorded for At the Ends of the World, acting as yet another thesis statement for Lloyd’s jazz foundation and global sensibilities. Lloyd solos beautifully on the bowed dilruba over broken percussion, following with an Eastern - style flute solo as the bass line develops and cymbals begin to swing. Lloyd’s piano eventually leads you to Ian’s bluesy, yet sophisticated, koto solo - landing you feet - down in the Far East.

Recording this track down in Lloyd’s basement was like a surreal nostalgia for some primitive future. His half - century old, live jazz posters and pictures from around the world, all boasting his name and lining the walls. World instruments piled up around us next to his self - canned food storage; I felt like we were playing live in some funky fallout, a dystopian speakeasy on the other side of time and the world - where people gathered not to secretly drink, but to indulge in a music forbidden by the pop dictators of the world. “The Apocalypse” might as well been the name of this imaginary night club. A dark and dusty hole in the ground where we worshipped and played this pestilent blues fusion.

TABOOGALOO BY FINALE GRAND

New "experimental jazz" album by @finalegrand  “TABOOGALOO" is a collection of basement tape recordings dating back to 2014, of synthesizers, live percussion, found sounds, repurposed media, electronics, analog equipment, song demos, improvisation, jazz, and subjective experimentations with the intent to dismantle process-routine and self tradition.

This was @finalegrand 's pallet cleansing proceeding the making of his classical-form HipHop Opus "Baroque Beats" circa 2013 , and would lead him into studying traditional live drumming soon after.

Fisch Loops live "At Peasantries and Pleasantries" is a vapored out, original album/performance recording. The source beats were created by Fisch at home with the intent to perform, improvise and manipulate in a live setting, for the final recording.
Performed live at the record/tape boutique Peasantries and Pleasantries in Salt Lake City on national Tape Store Day 2019. In order to record these beats and song ideas live, Fisch created a primitive DJ set-up of two Sony Sport Walkmans, a miniature DJ mixer, and a Kaos Pad, all which fit nicely in a Vans shoes box. He recorded two different tapes of beat ideas, and DJ'd back and forth on the Walkmans, while reacting and affecting the music live.
This is side A of the cassette, which on side B features a live performance at Twilite Lounge of different original music, with the same process and approach.
